RIP, The Luxury! Welcome, Elsewhere, established in 2020.

For those who’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know that French fries render all of my willpower null and void. (See Demo’s, Hawx, and Chris Madrid’s for proof.) Add The Luxury to the list of San Antonio restaurants that make carb-loading this non-runner’s guilty pleasure.

Chef Andrew Weissman of Il Sogno fame opened The Luxury in 2013 across from the San Antonio Museum of Art, a fabulous location along the River Walk’s Museum Reach and within walking distance to Pearl.

For those who are up for a walk along the River Walk, you can make it from The Esquire Tavern downtown to The Luxury in a little less than 30 minutes. Google maps says it’s 1.4 miles. (You will earn those French fries if you walk there and back!)

I took my daughter and one of her BFFs to The Luxury so they could give their double-blanched fries and sandwiches a try. My husband and I had been several times before, and I was pleased that the seating area had been upgraded since my last visit. It was nice before, but it’s even nicer now because you can sit alongside the San Antonio River, sip a drink, snack on fries and swing until your heart is content. Life doesn’t get much better.

I’ve never played bocce ball at The Luxury, but it’s on my must-do list. Just hanging out under the heritage oak that frames the court would actually be enough. However, with more than 150 beers to choose from at The Luxury, bocce and a brew sounds pretty good.

The Luxury is located at 103 E. Jones Ave., and they are open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
