One of my favorite things to do when I’m traveling outside of San Antonio is to visit local vintage/thrift/resale shops. You never know what to-die-for items you’re going to encounter while you’re out on your treasure hunt.
Two vintage Paris streetscapes that I purchased in Michigan while on a massive cross-country road trip hang on my bedroom wall. Lucky for us, San Antonio has heaps of treasure-laden vintage, thrift, and consignment/resale stores.
The Shops at Blanco Roundabout are a must-visit for both residents and visitors. You are sure to find a treasure or two (or three) at The Junction, Karolina’s, San Antonio Furniture Finders, House of History, Re-Creations by Rita, GG’s Emporium, Pepper’s and The Marcantile.
The Junction and Karolina’s (seen in photos above) are two of my favorites, and my sister, who lives in Austin, always wants to swing by both when she’s in town for a visit. During her last trip, she purchased a pair of papel picado-like metal earrings and a cool t-shirt to wear to ACL. On a previous trip, she purchased a hand-embroidered Mexican dress for my birthday that’s still one of my favorite things to wear.
As a bonus, two puro San Antonio places to eat are nearby: Chris Madrid‘s (now under new ownership) and Blanco Cafe.
The Shops at Blanco Roundabout are located on Blanco Road at Fulton Avenue in the Beacon Hill Neighborhood.

It’s also amazing what items turn up at thrift shops operated by Goodwill and Salvation Army.
Yes! I have rarely met a thrift store I didn’t like. We’re having our Eighth Annual Recycled Fashion Show at Palo Alto College on Nov. 14, Student Center Annex, at 12:30 p.m. Students will model two outfits, one casual and one dressy, thanks to Goodwill, who supplies PAC students with a $25 gift card. Just shows you can be fashionable, thrifty, and kind to the planet. Thanks for reading/commenting!
