Diana’s Burgers will cure what ails you

When I was a student at Trinity University back in the early ’80s, Chris Madrid’s was one of our go-to hangouts. What’s not to love about delicious hamburgers and fries served in a friendly atmosphere?!

Chris’ sister, Diana, was usually the one who took our orders, so I was thrilled to learn that after Chris passed away, Diana opened her own place on Zarzamora, within sight of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower, one of San Antonio’s most beautiful churches.

Saint Thérèse’s belief was that we should do small things with great love. “Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love,” she said.

Diana epitomizes the Little Flower, Saint Thérèse. Every burger is cooked with love, and her kind words always lift you up when you go in. Diana’s bean burger with a side of hand-cut fries and a dash of homemade salsa will turn a bad day around.

Besides burgers and fries, Diana offers nachos, chalupas, grilled cheese sandwiches and grilled chicken sandwiches. Margaritas, mango or lime, also are available, along with rootbeer floats and other delights.

Follow Diana’s Burgers on Facebook so that you stay in the loop for fun events, like Karaoke Nights. Be sure to swing by before or after a visit to the Basilica, and feel the love! Keep an eye out for the neighborhood chickens/roosters, too.

Diana’s Burgers, located at 2202 N. Zarzamora on San Antonio’s West Side, is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. plus Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

  1. Happy New Year Denise…

I always look forward to reading your blog posts. Although we no longer have anyone living in San Antonio we enjoy visiting as frequently as possible.

    Thanks

    1. Thanks for continuing to be one of my most loyal blog subscribers, Gene! I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to have a cup of coffee (or a margarita!) when you’re in San Antonio. It’s a great place to visit!

  2. Thank you for this review! I’m a native S.A. baptized at Little Flower, exiled in North TX for 20 yrs now. We were planning on a Chris Madrid birthday lunch for our youngest who turned 17 today, as we’ll be in town. She is a St Therese junkie (confirmed last year). We are now switching plans- so happy to learn of Diana’s place. My old stomping geounds!

    1. Jeff, Little Flower is one of San Antonio’s hidden gems. More folks need to put it on their itinerary. You will not be disappointed with Diana’s. Great food and customer service. Welcome back to Texas’ best town! Cheers, Denise
